Favorite Book Quotes

Hey everyone!

I was going to participate in top 10 Tuesday today, but I wasn’t really connecting with the topic so I decided to just share some of my favorite book quotes with you. 🙂

The quotes were compiled and set to background images by me; the background images were taken from Pexels.com (a source for free stock photos).

I know I have raved about this author and her books so much already, but I can’t get enough of her writing. This particular scene was when a character was being attacked. As a survivor myself, I feel like this quote perfectly captures the hopelessness that someone can feel in the midst of this situation. This quote still brings tears to my eyes. For my review on this series (I CANNOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH!) click here. The first book in the series is FREE right now on Amazon!

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology so reading books that focus on how characters develop in apocalyptic situations has always fascinated me. I love Zombie Apocalypse books, and Until the End of the World (mentioned in the first quote) and Fleming’s second series (Mordacious) are great ones in that genre. My review for Mordacious is here

I’m not going to get political (I need at least one area of my life to be a politics free zone), but this message is one that I really try to live by and raise my children to live by as well.

One of my favorite non-book quotes is “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” by Martin Luther King, Jr. I feel like these two quotes are related.

While this wasn’t my favorite book, I love this quote.

And lastly, who doesn’t love a little knowledge bomb from Dr. Seuss?

Books mentioned above are available for purchase from Amazon.

April Wrap-up

Hey look! It’s May 14th and I’m FINALLY getting around to my monthly wrap up. See what had happened was….no good excuse, lol. I’ve just been caught up with life. Being a “baseball mom” is killling me.

Overall for April I read 9 books, bought 7 physical books, received 2 Arcs, and bought 5 audio books. I actually started utilizing my library in April so I’ve only bought what really interests me, books I want to reread, or books not available at my library.

I don’t include eBooks on here because I buy an obscene amount of those and I’m not ever in a mood for a self-induced guilt trip. So we are just going to pretend they didn’t happen. That’s how Adulting works right? Just ignore the things you don’t want to think about? 😉

These books were read but not reviewed either because the book either doesn’t fit the scope of this blog, or I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ve added stars next to the titles to show if I recommend it or not though 🙂

  1. Across the Divide by Stacey Marie Brown (NA, Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy) 5/5 stars
  2. Alex by Sawyer Bennett (Contemporary Romance) 3/5 stars
  3. Garrett by Sawyer Bennett (Contemporary Romance) 3/5 stars
  4. From Burning Ashes by Stacey Marie Brown (NA, Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy) 5/5 stars
  5. The Silent Waters by Brittany C. Cherry – DNF this book. I might come back to it, but it was very cliche up to about 25%, which is where I put it down.

I had intended to do this post as a mini wrap up, but it appears that was not meant to be. So thanks for sticking it out and reading my two week late wrap up 😂

Update!

Yikes, I have been so absent this week! So hey everyone!

I haven’t done any of my weekly memes, and my book reviews are lacking. I wish I could blame solely it on my quarterly reports I’m working on in my job, but it’s mostly because I’ve just been in a mental funk. I would like to share what’s been going on in my book life though! This week:

    1. I stopped reading “Glass Sword“. I just couldn’t get into it. I will try it again at a later date, but Mare was just getting on my damn nerves. Her negativity and self-righteousness throughout the book was just too much. I’m hoping to finish it later down the road.
    2. I received two ARCS in the mail for review! The first one is a historical fiction novel called “If I Could Tell you“. It’s set in London during WWII. The next one is what I’m really excited for. I  received “Gilded Cage“!
    3. I received two books in the mail (that I bought, lol). The first was “The Assassin’s Blade“, which I’m reading at the same time as “Throne of Glass“. The other book I received was “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck“. I am pretty stoked to read this one because I am very much a people pleaser. I give way too many f*cks to all the wrong places, this book is all about directing your f*cks to the places that matter. 🙂
    4. I brought my kids to a Harry Potter event at my local library and we had a blast! I can’t upload the videos here, but check out my instagram if you want to see 😉 https://www.instagram.com/chandareadsbooksblog/
    5. I finally received my preorder book swag for “Wayfarer” (review here). How amazing is all this stuff? It makes me love Alex Bracken even more.

Thanks for reading! I’m making some design changes to my blog over the next couple weeks so bear with me! Thanks for reading!
