The Secret History of Us by [Kirby, Jessi]

Contemporary YA is not usually a genre I seek out, but this book sounds too good to pass up.

When Olivia awakes in a hospital bed following a near-fatal car accident, she can’t remember how she got there. She figures it’s because she was in a coma for a week, but as time goes on, she realizes she’s lost more than just the last week of her life—she’s lost all memory of events that happened years ago. Gone is any recollection of starting or graduating high school; the prom; or her steady boyfriend Matt. Trying to figure out who she is feels impossible when everyone keeps telling her who she was.

As Liv tries to sort out her family and friends’ perceptions of her, the one person she hasn’t heard enough from is Walker, the guy who saved her the night her car was knocked off that bridge into the bay below. Walker is the hardened boy who’s been keeping his distance and the one person that has made Liv feel like her old self…whoever that is. With feelings growing for Walker, tensions rising with Matt, and secrets she can’t help but feel are being kept from her, Olivia must find her place in a life she doesn’t remember living.”

    • This sounds awful, but I have not actually read any books with an LGBT lead! I know Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda gets rave reviews, but I’m not really into contemporary. I have The Seafarer’s Kiss on my TBR that I’m hoping to get to soon, but I just find that there aren’t a lot of Fantasy/sci-fi with LGBT leads. The Gentleman’s Guide sounds soo good though and I discovered that I like Historical Fiction a lot more than contemporary so I’m quite excited for it!

Agree about Wonder Woman, too. I was never really into her waayyyy back in the day when they used to play reruns of the old Wonder Woman show, but this new and revamped Wonder Woman look amazing.

  14. Ahh I’m SO excited for so many of these too!! Particularly Wonder Woman and Zero Repeat Forever and the Last Magician! I’ve read The Gentleman’s Guide and fjadskald iT’S SO GOOD AND PERFECT AND SWEET AND PERRRRFECT. *flails forever* I hope you love it too!
