5 Things on Sunday (3)

Good Morning! I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far! Mine has been busy, but good. For our “5 Things on Sunday” hosted by Reads and Treats this week the topic is…

This list was a little harder for me. I was born and was raised most of my childhood in Montana. When I was in high school I moved to Michigan. Both of those places have a very active and flourishing outdoor lifestyle in the winter, but now I live on the southern Atlantic coast (boooooooo). I was transplanted here while I was in the Navy, and we haven’t left (yet, but that’s in the works!). Anyway, my list used to be along the lines of skiing, snowmobiling, bon fires in the snow, etc. However, this list will be a little different because we just don’t do things like that down here. I was going to just use the aforementioned stuff, but it really got me thinking about ‘what do I actually do in the winter here?!”.

.1.

Watching movies at the theater. I didn’t realize this until I began writing this post, but I end up taking my kids to the theater more in the winter! I love the movies and my kids are now at an age where they can really start to enjoy them with me.

.2.

Reading more. Since I’m not outside as much I find that I have a lot more time to read!

.3.

Cooking “warming”  food. You know what I mean – chili, meatloaf, soups, etc. yummmm. If there is one thing from the south that I will take everywhere I go it will be the delicious soul food, especially the winter kind.

.4.

Not dying of the sweltering heat every moment. Seriously though, I am not a hot weather person. I hate it. I loathe walking outside and having my sunglasses fog up from the humidity. I hate when I walk outside and the heat almost literally takes my breath away.

.5.

Cute clothes. I’m a sweatshirt and sweatpants kind of gal. The very first thing I do when I walk in the house is strip from my work clothes and change into sweatpants. This is perfectly appropriate attire when it’s winter time, but doesn’t work so well in the aforementioned heat. I just want to be comfy!

What are your favorite things about winter? Do you prefer the snow?

Thanks for reading!

Until Next Time,
